Waves

With my feet sunken
Among the grains of sand
I feel the rumblings under the sea
Seconds to find the waves growing
Pressing on
Rustling through the same grains

Until it’s thin as ice and shivering
Trembling and weak, it slumps
Sliding back under the vastness over yonder

And again, another one pays visit
Hefty and sturdy, raging towards me
Touches my toes
Yet to crawl back home to sleep

So why can’t I?
Rage out and sweat
Without the demons of win or lose
Dancing over my temple
Steering my hands and feet

If fruitless, my feat,
I steer back like the waves
To charge again and sweat
For one time, I wouldn’t have to come back to the vastness
I wouldn’t fall, I wouldn’t fail
So why can’t I?
